| Resumo | The image registry is the process of linking geographic information of two or more images. It is a useful and important technique in several applications in remote sensing and photogrammetry. The advance of remote sensing technology, especially orbital sensors, had increased substantially the quantity and diversity of data. Thus techniques developments are needed to handle efficiently these data. One technique that allows an effective handling of data is the automatic registration of images derived from orbital remote sensing. Therefore this work aims to develop an algorithm that identifies corresponding features between two digital images for its use in registry procedure. The process of determining features uses a threshold to separate the pixels of low frequency of occurrence in both images. Then the coincidence of the features was determined by the standard correlation coefficient across a fixed size window that runs the entire image. Two sets of bands from Landsat7/ETM+ and CBERS2/CCD were used to test the procedure. For all the bands tested the results were satisfactory, achieving levels of overall RMS smaller than 0.5 pixel and usually 15 or more control points founded. It was noted also a great variability in the relationship between the size of window and correlation. | |||
